EMI’s “Egress Youth  Diversion”

Our Project

The Egress Youth Diversion Program was developed in response to help the New Mexico Juvenile Justice Advisory Committee in its efforts to prevent juvenile delinquency sentencing and housing. Our focus is to provide an alternative intervention for struggling youth in the Albuquerque Metro area. For youth from ages 7 through 17, our program will provide programs and services that teach Self-Actualization skills that will prepare students for lifelong success.

Vision

EMI was conceived as a means by which the most marginalized/underserved in our city could receive services that enabled them to acquire the means necessary to achieve basic, and needed tools to enhance their safety, assets, and affirmation in an environment that is user friendly and offers long term support.

Statistics show that African Americans in NM are in dire need of many specialized services. Data shows that African Americans, especially youth, thrive when served by people that look like them and that are effective in teaching them to discover and work from their positions of strength. We want to reach out to all those that are identified as a part of the African Dysphoria and other minority groups as a resource.
